Letter  To The Industry

The Iowa Collision Repair Association continues to represent and support the best interests of the Iowa collision industry.  The work that is always going on, sometimes behind the scenes, by this association has a positive impact for every collision repairer in the state.  Thank you for those that continue to be members and support these important  efforts.     The industry needs your support.   With  the consistent efforts of our hard working Board of Directors, the ICRA  will continue to bring these benefits to you:   *Ongoing legislative representation * Meetings with the Iowa Department of Insurance * Meetings with the Iowa Attorney General * Midwest Auto Body Trade Show and Education Days * Meetings and Educational Seminars * Estimating Roundtables  and the place where you will interact, create meaningful  and lasting relationships and be an integral part of your collision repair community.

Collision Week 2018 Labor Rate Survey

As we all know data is a very important tool for our trade.  Collision Week has asked us to participate in their 2018 Labor Rate Study.  All respondents can opt-in to receive a free copy of the research when it is completed.  At the request of many   collision repair facility readers who desire to better understand how collision repair facilities are charging for non-structural and structural repairs on vehicles with aluminum components, we have again included a section asking detailed questions about aluminum charges.

Doing The ‘Right Thing’

Well the day has finally come. After pushing the owner of the dealership I work at to do the right thing, buy the right tools, and take the right stance, he has decided that instead of heeding my advice he’d rather bring someone else in that will cobble, chop, and bend over.
Not sure what the future holds yet but I know for me it’s onward and upward and for them the day will come when they wish they would have listened.”

Wow, this is a post from one of the many industry facebook pages that are buzzing around our peers.    It is a bittersweet message.    This person’s name will stay anonymous, however, he is to be admired and we hope he continues to climb that ladder towards  the ‘right thing’.

For those of you working hard to do the right thing, we applaud you as industry leaders.   At the Midwest Auto Body Trade Show, we talked about the complexity of our future and the innovation and determination it is going to take to prevail.      Mark Olson, Vehicle Collision Experts,  presentation at the Midwest asked everyone to focus on ’10 Step Process’ and the ‘Canary In The Coal Mine’.

Here is the link to Mark Olson’s presentation that he is generously sharing with the Midwest Collision Industry.  If we generate enough interest we will bring Mark back to Iowa this summer for a full day of education.

Please stay in touch with the ICRA ,  email janet_chaney@iowacra.com.

Keep the Industry Going – JOIN ICRA TODAY

The Midwest Auto Body Trade Show brought exciting new equipment, new technology and very very good education.

For those of you that attended we hope this is the start of your continuing education in this fastly evolving industry.       The Iowa Collision Repair Association will be offering one day  education programs  this summer from the presenters at the Midwest Auto Body Trade Show:   Mitch Becker, Mark Olson, Matthew McDonnell,  Ron Reichen, Shawn Collins, and more.    LOOK FOR THE EDUCATION CALENDAR  SOON! No Todd Tracy, however, he was impressed with our group and will be back next year.     You met the Iowa Insurance Commissioner, Doug Ommen, Saturday afternoon before Todd Tracy spoke.  ICRA Lobbyist Scott Weiser is the reason Commissioner Ommen was  at our event.     Weiser represents the collision industry in Des Moines and works at building relationships with the Insurance Department and the Attorney General’s Office.  In today’s challenging business and political climate Weiser is a valuable resource.

MEMBERSHIP  –   To support these efforts the Iowa Collision Repair Association is asking all of you to join this active association and continue to develop and grow the strong nucleus that will demand attention.    Dues have been prorated and adjusted for the last 3 quarters of 2018.

“It is time for us to be on the same page and start to make something good happen.”    Laura Larson
